There are various places to see on the temple grounds, such as the gardens and culturally significant buildings. We are looking forward to your visit.

Visiting the Temple

Visitors can view the temple grounds free of charge (there is a fee for the Hōjō and Yūzen’en gardens). The temple is open from 9 AM-3:50 PM, and the gates close at 4:30 PM.

Information on Viewing the Gardens

The Hōjō and Yūzen’en gardens are open to the public. Please enjoy a leisurely stroll around our gardens.

Garden Entrances

Yūzen’en Garden On the southeast side of the Sanmon
(Main Gate, at the bottom of the Onnazaka Stairs)
Hōjō Garden On the east side of the Mieidō
(hall which houses the image of Hōnen)

Notice to visitors

Please adhere to the guidelines below on the premises. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

  • No smoking, No open flame.
  • Pets are not allowed on the premises; however, Assistance dogs are permitted.
  • Please refrain from taking photographs or recording audio or video in the hall.
  • Please refrain from using megaphones, microphone or similar devices on the premises.

The following types of photography are prohibited.

  • Photography utilizing equipment such as monopods, tripods, or drones.
  • Photography for weddings, cosplay, or photo shoots involving models without prior permission.
  • Photography for profit purposes or any photography likely to lead to profit without prior permission.
  • Utilizing the premises for production or as a studio without prior permission.
    If you wish to conduct photography for commercial purposes, please contact us through our contact form.

Should any behavior be deemed inappropriate, our staff and guard will issue a warning.
Visitors may be asked to leave if they don’t comply the instructions.
